Honda is the second largest manufacturer and seller of two wheelers in India. The bikes and scooters of this company hold a special place in the homes of the people of India. But Honda has not yet launched any of its two wheelers in the electric segment in the market, but Honda company will launch Honda electric bike or scooter in the coming few months. Such a statement has come from the Honda company.

Why is Honda so far behind in the electric segment?

Honda manufactures two wheelers with great features and good mileage at an affordable price. Honda sold about 3.5 lakh two wheelers in India last year, so Honda is the second largest company in the two wheeler segment in India. This company still sells only petrol bikes and scooters in India, but today people are getting attracted towards electric vehicles due to the rising prices of petrol.

Because the cost of running an electric bike is very less as compared to petrol bikes. But Honda has not yet launched any of its two wheeler bikes or scooters in the electric segment, due to which the wait of Honda electric bike and scooter customers is getting longer. Earlier Honda company had plans to launch two wheeler electric vehicle by 2025 but Now the CEO of Honda company has expressed that two wheelers will be available in the electric segment in the year 2023, and Honda is testing electric vehicles at its plant in Maharashtra.

This question was in the mind of many people that Honda will first introduce a honda electric bike or a scooter in the electric segment. But let me tell you, Honda company has cleared that it will first launch a scooter in the electric segment, because scooter has a huge place in the sales of Honda company, which is 25% of the total sales. Honda company sells its 1 lakh scooters in a year.

In which variant will it come

Just a few days ago, Honda say about Honda’s grand plan of launching 10 electric two-wheelers by 2025. The Activa e-scooter will be a part of the plan and now, some major developments have been revealed by the brand.  According to a report, Honda is likely to launch the Activa electric scooter in 2023 . This upcoming e-scooter will have a top speed of 60kmph and will be positioned as an affordable mid-range EV. The brand believes that the customers for this model won’t be first-time two-wheeler buyers. Rather, those who already own a set of wheels and want to have an EV as an alternate mode of transport.  

What will be the price and battery type

The price of Honda Activa Ev will be lower than the Activa 110cc petrol variant. Honda Activa Price in Petrol Variant starting price of around Rs 73,500 ex-showroom price Delhi. As of now, there are no details on the riding range, but we can expect it to be around 60-80km. This new scooter could borrow the styling from its petrol sibling along with some features. We are quite excited to see this e-scooter from Honda. Can it become the highest-selling e-scooter in India?

Well, we have to wait for that. We can have two options to buy this scooter first with the battery in which you will have the ownership of the battery and the second option is battery swapping, in which the ownership of the battery will be with the company. The company says it will be the first to start the battery swapping station in Bengaluru. From where you can swap your discharged battery with a charged battery.
